Kaustick Can Control Playoff Destiny with Victory on Saturday
Fri. December 5, 2008Categories: Game reports
With a victory in one of their two games on Saturday, Kaustick can take control of their playoff hopes, which rest on finishing ahead of the Grinders. Kaustick is currently fourth in Anaheim Hockey Club of Corona’s ABS Division.
Kaustick has three contests remaining: a 2:55 p.m. matchup against No Fear (1-7-0, 6th) and a 5:40 p.m. contest vs. the Islands (7-0-0, 1st), both on Saturday at Anaheim Hockey Club of Corona. The final contest comes against the Grinders on December 13, at 6 p.m.
In addition to the potential pivotal game with Kaustick, the Grinders lone remaining game is Saturday vs. the Diablos.
Kaustick is currently 3-4-0 on the season, good for 6 standings points, with the Grinders, 2-6-0, just 2 points back.
If Kaustick wins at least the game-in-hand Saturday and the Grinders lose their contest — or if Kaustick wins both — Kaustick will clinch a playoff birth.
Just about any other combination sets up a showdown between the two teams on the final week of the season. The Grinders would currently win any tiebreaker, should the two finish even in the standings.
