CORONA — Kaustick opened a new season with the milestone return of Susan Brannen to the team. The happy occasion was marred slightly with Kaustick on the short end of a 3-2 decision; however, the significance was not paled because of the outcome.
Laura Chavez also returned to Kaustick after taking time off over the summer and Lori Willis joined the team.
All three played well along with the six other skaters and netminder Julian Sarrategui, who made a number of sparkling saves.
A.J. Arbiso accounted for all of Kaustick’s scoring, with one from distance and the other a blast at closer range after the AHC Saturday defense allowed him to skate into the left faceoff circle.
Wendy Villa, Gary Dresser and Lou Guevara each had a number of quality chances.
With the start of the new season, Sarrategui returned to his role of team captain and Dresser takes over the the bench captaincy.
